HOW TO SETUP AND/OR RETRIEVE MESSAGES FROM VOICEMAIL
       SETTING UP RETRIEVING MESSAGES
Your On-Campus Phone (644 and 645 numbers)
 
  • Dial 4-MAIL (4-6245)
  • Enter the initial passcode of 1-2-3-4
  • The tutorial will guide you through changing your passcode, recording your greeting and retrieving messages, etc.
  • If you still need assistance, please call the OTC Helpdesk at 644-HELP
State lines with prefixes other than 644 and 645
  On your line:
  • From your line to which voicemail has been added, dial 1-877-VMESSAGE (863-7724)
  • The tutorial will guide you through changing your password, recording your greeting and message(s), etc.
  • If you need assistance, Embarq* has a helpdesk available at 800-949-4357.
  • If you still need assistance after contacting Embarq*, please call your OTC Consultant at 644-HELP (4357).

On another line:

  • For increased security, it is required that you set up your mailbox from your business phone, you will be unable to set up your mailbox remotely.
On your line:
  • Dial 1-877-VMESSAGE (863-7724) or dial Star Key9 KeyO key from your office phone
  • Enter your passcode
  • Follow the voice prompts
On another line:
  • Dial your phone #
  • Press Star Key during your greeting
  • Enter your passcode when prompted
  • Follow the voice prompts

  On your line:

VOICEMAIL FEATURES
Know Your Passcode
  Once you have dialed in you will be asked for your passcode. The default for new accounts is "1-2-3-4". When you set up your new account you will need to set a new passcode. If your new account does not recognize the default code, or you forget your passcode call the OTC Helpdesk at 644-HELP (4357).
Main Menu Prompts
 
7 Key Press P to Play the first message
6 Key Press M to Make a new message
8 Key Press U for User Options (Set up and Personalize your mailbox)
9 Key Press X to Exit the system
O key Press O to return to the attendant (if number has been specified by department)
You will be disconnected after hearing the menu options twice.
Play a Message
 
7 Key Press P to Play the first message
After you play a message you will hear the following prompts:
7 Key Press P to Play the first message
4 Key Press G to Give to another user.
You must use the full seven digit number.
Pound Key Record additional comments. Press "#" again to stop recording.
9 Key Press X to send your message.
5 Key Press K to Keep the current message (played messages kept 4 days, unplayed 8 days)
To save longer, play and keep to reset clock.
3 Key Press D to Discard current message
While Message is Playing:
Pound Key
Fast Forward 5 Seconds
Star  Key
Rewind 5 Seconds
1 Key
Pause
7 Key
Resume
7 Key
Repeat
Make a Message
 
You can make a message to be delivered to another mailbox or send to a distribution list.
6 Key Press M to Make a new message
At the prompt enter the full seven digit number telephone number of a campus voice mail user, of a distribution list number
Pound Key Press # to End your recording
Recording Options
7 Key Press R to Review your message
3 Key Press D to Discard your message
2 Key Press A to Append and continue recording
6 Key Press M to access Message Recording Options

2 KeyPress C to mark Confidential
8 KeyPress U to mark Urgent
7 KeyPress R to request a Receipt
9 KeyPress X to Exit Message Addressing Options
9 Key Press X to Send your message and return to Main Menu
User Options
 
After accessing your mailbox and entering your passcode, User Options lets you set and reset your greetings, name, passcode, and call schedules. When making changes to User Options, you must follow all system prompts and wait to hear "Good Bye" or No Changes will be made! If you have questions or problems call the OTC Help Line at 644-HELP(4357).
4 Key Press G to change your Greeting (the message callers hear when they reach your mailbox.)
6 Key Press N to change your Name (automatically left when you leave a message in another mailbox)
7 Key Press P to change your Passcode (4 to 10 digit number that allows you access to your mailbox)
5 Key Press L to change your Distribution Lists (saved collections of mailbox numbers that allows you to send voice mail to every member of a group at once)
2 Key Press C for Call Schedule options (delay up to 60 days)
9 Key Press X to Exit User Options
Change Your Greeting
You will hear a prompt when you access this option that indicates whether your mailbox is set for one Primary Greeting or for Conditional Greetings.
7 Key Press P to change your Primary Greeting (One generic message for all unanswered conditions)
3 Key Press E to Enable Greetings (Allows you to switch between Primary and Conditional Greetings as your message response.)
9 Key Press X to Exit and return to User Options
Change Your Name
5 Key Press L to listen to your message
7 Key Press R to Review your name and Record over it
9 Key Press X to Exit and return to User Options
2 Key Press C to change your Conditional Greetings
(once you initialize you will hear a preview of all three greetings)

2 Key Press B to change your Busy Greeting
9 Key Press F to change your Call Forward Greeting
6 Key Press N to change your No Answer greeting
9 Key Follow directions to change the selected greeting, then Press X to return to the Change Greeting Menu.
Change Your Passcode
Enter a 4 - 10 digit code that is easy for you to remember to allow you access to your mailbox. The default code for new accounts is "1 2 3 4". If you are taking over an existing mailbox or forget your passcode, please submit an online order to request a passcode re-set to 1-2-3-4.
Change Your Distribution List
2 Key Press A to Add a new member
3 Key Press D to Drop a member
6 Key Press N to record a Name for this list
7 Key Press P to Play this list
9 Key Press X to Exit and return to User Options

VOICEMAIL TREES
Programming, etc. Instructions

To RECORD OR CHANGE Main Greeting:

 

RECORD THE INFORMATION AT THE TOP LEVEL OF THE VOICE MAIL TREE BEFORE PROCEEDING TO THE NEXT STEP.

1. Dial the Voice Mail Tree Main Number (64X-XXX)

2. When the greeting begins press Star Key

3. When asked to enter a Passcode, enter 1 2 3 4 (or the password you have already changed it to).

IMPORTANT: THE FIRST TIME YOU SET THIS UP, FOLLOW THE VOICE PROMPTS, AFTER THAT, FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW.

4. Press 8 Key for user options
5. Press 4 Key to change greeting
6. Press 7 Key to begin recording. As soon as you are through recording press Pound Key (to stop recording and eliminate background noise).
7. Press 9 Key to save the message
8. Press 9 Key again to exit the system

IMPORTANT- FOR RECORDING TO BE SAVED YOU MUST REMAIN ON THE LINE UNTIL THE SYSTEM SAYS "GOOD-BYE".

4. Follow the voice prompts.

5. Press 4 Key to change greeting
6. Press 7 Key to begin recording. As soon as you are through recording press Pound Key(to stop recording and eliminate background noise).
7. Press 9 Key to save the message
8. Press 9 Key again to exit the system
